Could "Sea kites" be used to harness tidal energy off the cost of Nigeria?

With all the tidal energy wasting off the coast of Nigeria on a daily bases. Could we one day see the use of "Sea Kite" technology which uses sea kites anchored to the bottom of the sea bed producing gigawatts of electrical energy.

In an article that is featured in Popsci this new technology being developed in "Sweden could be a low-cost, low-impact method for harnessing ocean energy".
