[IDS]IDS Director Melissa Leach welcomed delegates from all over the world attending the 25th biennial conference of the African Studies Association UK (ASAUK) which marked its 50th anniversary. In her address at the opening of the conference and the launch of the Sussex Africa Centre, Professor Leach highlighted how the University of Sussex's long history of engagement with African issues, people and partners was of one the things that made it such a unique place to work and study.
