Someone once said that if you're not outraged, you're not paying attention. I feel I've been paying a lot of attention lately. We've all been watching many kinds of anger unfold. There's been so much conflict. I've been plenty angry, and because I'm so angry I've seen some backlash. It was suggested to me that I "just want to bitch" "for no reason" "all the time". Cameroonian powerhouse Jovi (Le Monstre)'s video Ca$h comes some time after the rapper-producer's label New Bell Music shared some stills from the video shoot.  Director Bertrand Ndukong  - who also directed Jovi's B.A.S.T.A.R.D video - created a high energy, kaleidoscopic montage to match the bikutsi-flavoured song.  Ca$h is still available for download here.

Sounds like: sultry R&B... with a conscience. The lowdown: Sa'ra Charismata is an outspoken singer who has been bestowed with the gifts of wisdom and knowledge. She grew up in Sweden to Eritrean parents but resides in New York. The singles she has released so far are trippy, expressive and a little dark but with the sultriness of an En Vogue record and the uninhibited candour of Tupac's 2pacalyse Now. [...]

The assailants killed 67 civilians and injured several others in a siege that lasted about 3 days. Terrorist group Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attacks insisting that it was retaliation for Operation Linda Nchi - an offensive launched against Al-Shabaab in southern Somalia [...]

If music played during astral travel, Shabazz Palaces would be the soundtrack. At least that is what their second album Lese Majesty sounds like it aims to be. It came out in late July and, as Ishmael Butler explained in an interview with NPR, it is an affront to the self-absorbed, especially self-absorbed rap "royalty."
