Some time ago, three P-Square tracks emerged on the internet simultaneously, namely, blockbuster collaboration Ejeajo with rapper T.I., Bring It On with Dave Scott and Shekini. All of these songs we later found out were singles from their sixth studio album Double Take. A little while later another blockbuster collaboration called Collabo which featured Mavins' Don Jazzy also came out. It too was on the reported track list of that [...]

Chess is Petite Noir's latest offering from his upcoming EP The King Of Anxiety. Although the trailer has been up on YouTube for quite some time now, the video eventually premièred on Dazed Digital. The video première comes three months after an interview the magazine did with the noirwave artist and his latest collaborator Yasiin Bey. Our friends over at Okayafrica recently caught up with Akon during the U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit in Washington DC. The rapper has become a major player in the music industry not just by releasing music of his own and in the African pop music circuit with his record label Konvict Muzik housing pop acts such as Davido, P-Square, and Wizkid. Akon was in DC to discuss the Akon Lighting Africa Project and [...]

It looks like Naeto C is gearing up to release another album after a long silence. About a month ago he released a single called China featuring rapper Phyno. The house-y track was produced by Jay Sleek. About a week later, he released the video for the song and that video was directed by Clarence Peters. This week, he has released another video for yet another collabo but this time [...]

The Ibibio Sound Machine has been forging its way through the vast landscape of musical delights for quite some time now. The London-based 8 piece band that is currently on tour in the UK is led by British-Nigerian vocalist Eno Williams. The Machine creates music that they describe as "evocative Nigerian poetic imagery set against an edgy Afro-Electro soundscape".  More specifically, their sound is a dizzying combination "of West African [...]

As she gears up for the release her EP For Madeleine later this month, Seinabo Sey gives us this acoustic cover of Clean Bandit's 90s-inspired electro hit Rather Be featuring Jess Glynne. Her version of the song bears almost no resemblance to the buoyant original. Even without the piano and the monochromatic visuals, her smoky, smouldering vocals create a mellower, more sombre song. She truly made the song her own. [...]

M.anifest just released the video for his single No Shortcut to Heaven, the fourth single from his EP Apae: The Price of Free. You might have noticed that it was a favourite on his Apae Taxi Diaries. A few months ago the Coker CoOp - a partnership between Nigerian born siblings Shofela, Shobo and Funlola Coker that produces "original indie comics, statues, jewellery, indie games and more" - began this incredibly successful Kickstarter to produce the first issue of their comic series Outcasts of Jupiter.
